NFC/AFC Championship PREVIEW / Divisional Playoffs REVIEW

In this NFC/AFC CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND PREVIEW and DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS WEEKEND REVIEW, Dan and Greg welcome childhood friend and Jets’ fan PETER to discuss the Jets’ gutsy win against the San Diego Chargers. The three also discuss the virtuosity of DARRELLE REVIS, the suprising and timely adequacy of THE SANCHISE, the choke-job by Chargers’ kicker NATE KAEDING, and the questionable coaching decisions made by Chargers’ coach NORV TURNER. Of course, leave it to Peter to overstate the potential of SHONN GREENE. Also, Dan and Greg proudly welcome their first international guest, Vancouver native BC MIKE to discuss the NHL’s scandalous Alex Burrows/Stephane Auger affair, the CFL, the upcoming Winter Olympics, and to follow up on the hidden, seedy underbelly of BC Mike’s hometown. And, as always, Dan and Greg call this weekend’s games as well as offering a brief G-Men update and handing out listener awards. This is truly a jam-packed 20th episode!

Hey guys sorry i haven’t said much lateley. been busy, but still listening every week. so i wanted to leave my two cents(it should be worth more but hey…) on the giants offseason coming up. first, i have no idea how perry fewell is going to do as DC. he ran mostly a cover 2 in buffalo but says he can adjust his scheme to the giants personnel. a good start would be better health next year. we need to get faster on defense. both at linebacker and in the secondary. we need at least another safety if not two. i’ve been hearing alot of good things about USC safety taylor mays. not much of a ball hawk they say but sideline to sideline range (again: speed). if boley is healthy and sintim replaces clark that should at least upgrade the athleticism at OLB. so now the second option at the 15th pick would be to look at a MLB. perhaps rolando mcclain or brandon spikes. im actually not that worried if they upgrade speed that much. we just need better instincts in coverage. Pierce never had that even in his prime. overall we need some better cover guys in the secondary. interceptions always seem hard to come by. of course an easy upgrade would just be to have the pass rush return to form. i also think this defense(and team for that matter) needs a true vocal leader. they have enough “quiet” leaders. strahan was that guy. others have tried, but its not the same. you’re either that guy or you’re not. the offense needs some tinkering at O-line but overall its good to go. we need to give the RBs another year to see if they can be healthier. all 4 guys were injured all year (andre brown never even played). Seibert may be done but again, injured most of the year. special teams is attrocious (coverage wise). dont know how the ST coordinator got to keep his job. but i wouldnt give up on tynes. kickers dont grow on trees and i still think he’s got major onions for nailing that kick in OT against green bay. (interesting stat: only kicker in history to hit a 40+ yd fg in green bay during the playoffs) i’ll take a guy who can make that kick when it counts instead of the san diego kicker who keeps making pro bowls. that brings me to jerry reese. just about every move he made last offseason was a disaster. u guys already know what i think about keeping all the draft picks for a team ready to win now. other than nicks, not a single player brought in thru free agency or the draft contributed much of anything. (thats at least 14 players). another HUGE mistake: signing another d-lineman (bernard) when safety was a more glaring need. hello darren sharper? reese needs to step up his game this offseason and be a little more creative than thinking he can keep using a pass rush to mask secondary weeknesses. no word on kenny phillips yet so safety might be the no.1 priority. really safety and MLB are 1 and 1a

maybe u guys can discuss some of this on the upcoming podcasts. tell me what u think of some of the suggestions.
    GO BIG BLUE!!
