The New York Jets: Unfortunately the better 2009 New York football team

In the first episode of The NYGMen Podcast post-2009 NFL regular season, Dan and Greg decide to take a break from talk about the Giants and, instead, have one of their old (and one of Dan’s best) friends on the program straight from his apartment in Paris: Jets’ enthusiast and degenerate gambler FOX. Dan congratulates Fox on miraculously winning their bet since the Jets unbelievably finished the regular season with a better record than the Giants did (except not really all that shocking for those who have been intently watching the G-Men for the past two months). The trio discuss a broad range of topics that include the Jets, Eric Mangini, Bill Belichick and his disciples, the untimely and tragic death of Casey Johnson, the upcoming Winter Olympics, Tiger Woods, Jayson Williams, and much, much more. The Jets are going and we’re staying home, but CHEER UP because at the very least BILL SHERIDAN is GONE!!

We know that their defense is good, but what about THIS guy?

Week 17 PREVIEW: The New York Giants visit the Minnesota Vikings

In this Week 17 PREVIEW, the New York Giants travel to Minnesota to face off with the Vikings in a pretty pointless match-up (well, at least for the G-Men). Greg and Dan are honored to welcome childhood friend and fervent Vikings’ fanatic J-LA, who happens to be chillin’ in Argentina. The three spend some time talking about Argentina, Danish women, how J-La became a Vikings’ fan, and reminisce about high school. ALSO, we talk Brett Favre (also addressing the Favre/Childress affair), Percy Harvin, Adrian Peterson, Tarvaris Jackson, Chris Johnson, Visanthe Shiancoe, and JEREMY SHOCKEY. We even bring up good ole’ John Fox. We know that we’re done, BUT STAY WITH US!!

WARNING: Some may find this episode to be particularly off-color

Wouldn't it be nice to make things harder for ego-maniac Brett Favre?

Week 16: The New York Giants knocked out by the Carolina Panthers, 41-9

In this Week 16 POST-GAME ANALYSIS, Greg and Dan are pissed and saddened by the Giants’ lackluster effort and embarrassing loss against the Carolina Panthers. In addition to talking about the game itself, the two focus on the ascension of Eli Manning as a truly legit NFL QB, the fall of Brandon Jacobs, the selection of Shaun O’Hara to the Pro Bowl, and the complaining of Osi Umenyiora. Greg and Dan also discuss Bill Sheridan, what the G-Men might care to strengthen through the upcoming draft, the state of the linebackers, the future of the running, and the condition of the secondary. ALSO, Greg and Dan argue for way too long about statistics and odds as well as addressing the trash-talking of CAROLINA’S STEVE SMITH, the Colts allowing the Jets to win, RAMSES BARDEN and, of course, Mike Francesa. As always, Greg and Dan respond to fan email and comments, give out awards, and call their top teams, including Week 16’s “Beast of the East.” And DON’T MISS Greg and Dan’s call for the Gauthier “Mic ‘em up” Consideration. BE REASONABLE!! We will survive this GIANT letdown.

Week 16 PREVIEW: The New York Giants host the Carolina Panthers

In this Week 16 PREVIEW, the New York Giants host the Carolina Panthers in what will be the G-Men’s very last game in Giants Stadium. To commemorate the occasion, Greg and Dan welcome Winston-Salem’s native son CASEY to help add some insight on the collapse of Jake Delhomme and the struggles of the 2009 Carolina Panthers. The three spend a lot of time wondering what the hell happened to Delhomme, a one-time solid NFL QB, as well as pondering the fate of Carolina coach (and former Giants’ defensive coordinator) John Fox. Also coming up in conversation is the talented Steve Smith (which one?), Julius Peppers, the Panthers’ historical inability to string two consecutive seasons as a legitimate contender, and Carolina’s strikingly out-of-date nineties era uniforms. In addition, Dan regales Greg by describing his third consecutive appearance at midnight mass. All this and much more. DON’T MISS IT!!!

Will the absence of this guy help the Panthers ruin the G-Men's playoff aspirations?

Week 15: The New York Giants demolish the Washington Redskins, 45-12

In this Week 15 POST-GAME ANALYSIS, Greg and Dan rejoice in the G-Men’s drubbing of the hapless Washington Redskins. In so doing, the two give credit to Eli Manning, Ahmad Bradshaw, Kevin Gilbride, Will Beatty, and the rest of the New York Giants for a job extremely well-done (except for Michael Boley, on whom Greg is very down). ALSO, Greg and Dan discuss the NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE, DeSean Jackson, the Vikings (including the Favre/Childress Affair), the Saints, Mike Francesa’s GOODY BOWL, and much, much more. As always, Greg and Dan address fan email and comments, give out awards, and call their top teams, including Week 15′s “Beast of the East.” And DON’T MISS Greg and Dan’s call for The NYGMen Podcast’s “Generic” Condom “Breaking” Play of the Game as well as the Gauthier “Mic ‘em up” Consideration. LET’S BASK IN THE GLORY, no matter how briefly it may last.

Week 15 PREVIEW: The New York Giants take on the Washington Redskins

In this Week 15 PREVIEW, Greg and Dan welcome Redskins’ fanatic (and budding business-genius) JAKE THE SNAKE to help them size up what await the G-Men in D.C. In so doing, the three touch on the Redskins’ historical misuse of Clinton Portis, whether the hype surrounding big off-season signings Albert Haynesworth and DeAngelo Hall proved worthwhile, and the upcoming free agency of Jason Campbell. More to the point, JAKE understanably harps on Dan Snyder, why he is a bad guy and a total douchebag, and how much he sucks for his franchise. ALSO, Greg and Dan find a little time at the end to talk about they’re excitement for the eventual debut of rookie RAMSES BARDEN.

Will an improving Jason Campbell be able to put a fork in the struggling Giants' playoff aspirations?

Week 14: The New York Giants are unable to stop the soaring Philadelphia Eagles, PART 2

In PART 2 of this episode, Greg and Dan give you what you’be probably been waiting for: a SUPER IN-DEPTH post-game analysis of the Giants failure to beat the Eagles at home, in spite of having put 38 points on the board. ALSO, the two touch on some other topics such as Mike Francesa (surprise, surprise), Cris Collinsworth’s abilities as a color commentator, Donovan McNabb, Randy Moss, and FAN EMAIL/COMMENTS including one from childhood pal BERKSTER. As always, Greg and Dan give out awards and call their TOP FIVE teams in the NFL, including the hottest teams, the scariest teams, and Week 14′s “Beast of the East.” ENJOY!!

Week 14: The New York Giants are unable to stop the soaring Philadelphia Eagles, PART 1

In PART 1 of this episode, Greg and Dan welcome best buddy THE FLUME to the program to help Dan recount their experience bearing witness (live) to the G-Men failing to take a winnable game from the Eagles. In so doing, the three childhood friends continually digress, hitting topics relating to WFAN, the new Giants/Jets Stadium, Lawrence Taylor’s commentary on the TIGER WOODS’ SCANDAL, the TIGER WOODS’ SCANDAL itself (a lot of time on the TIGER WOODS’ SCANDAL), “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Sunday Night Football versus Monday Night Football, and the VOLATILE DRUNKENNESS (and fighting) that Dan and the Flume saw at the game. WARNING: this episode does get pretty RAW, so the faint-of-heart BEWARE. Of course, stick around for PART 2 of this episode, coming out within the next day or so. PART 2 will be more akin to Greg and Dan’s traditional postgame analysis. So sit back, have a few laughs, and try to forget how much the Giants’ defense sucks!

Week 13: The New York Giants put down the Dallas Cowboys, 31-24

In this episode, the G-Men finally come up with a clutch victory against the Dallas Cowboys and Greg and I were so excited that we couldn’t help but bring you a SPECIAL DOUBLE EPISODE. First, our main man and resident Cowboy expert REID bravely returns to the program to help recap the game. The three also chat about college football, marching bands, the pious yet bitch-like Tim Tebow, Drew Bledsoe, the Buck/Aikman duo, and Monday Night Football. Also, what the hell is Flozell Adams’ major malfunction?!?! Plus, Tiki gets booed (again), a Plaxico update, Mike Francesa’s “goody bowl,” and R.I.P. Hofstra Football Program. As always, Greg and Dan hand out FAN AWARDS and call their top teams, including Week 13′s “Beast of the East.” Oh, HOW SWEET IT IS!!!!
